tattoos and weight loss/gain?

i’m thinking about getting a tattoo on my rib cage down to my hip. what happens to tattoos with weight loss or weight gain? i don’t plan on gaining or losing significant amounts of weight but i’m just curious as to what happens, particularily with pregnancy. i don’t plan on getting pregnant in the near future, but i do want kids someday and am just wondering what would happen. thanks for your input!

If you become larger, your skin and thus your tattoo will stretch. It will look terrible afterward. Be careful in choosing where you put a tattoo and think carefully about long term.

If your skin will stretch, your tattoo will stretch along with it. And even if you lose that weight after pregnancy, etc. the design of your artwork will be distorted (sometimes it looks okay, sometimes it doesn’t even look like it should).

I have a rib piece that goes to the tip of my ribs. My artist placed it high enough where if I ever decide to have kids (since I don’t plan on becoming fat anytime soon…) it won’t be affected.

Tattoos that go even to your tummy have a high chance of stretching, as a majority of weight gain and loss, even month-to-month is in the tummy (for females).

    Good luck!
