    Humans aren’t good with variable manipulation so lets plug in some random numbers and say the plan advertises losing 10 pounds in 2 weeks. Say tara wants to lose 50 pounds.

    Right, so take 50 pounds / 10 pounds and that means it will take 5 periods (time intervals, whatever) to lose that weight. Each time interval is 2 weeks so 5 * 2 weeks = 10 weeks.

    Going back from our numbers to variables x = 10 y = 2 z = 50. We took 50 / 10 * 2 = (z / x) * y = zy/x
