How many hours of sleep should I get every night?

I am 15 years old about to turn 16 in October and I normally fret over how much sleep I get. I take medication which helps me sleep at night but I wake up at 6:00 on weekdays so I normally go to bed around 8 depending on when i took my medicine. I know I overdo it and get 9 or 10 hours a night. How many hours should I be sleeping every night to feel well slept?

What are some over the counter sleep aids I could use to help me fall asleep at night?

For the last few months I have been having extreme difficulty falling asleep. I just don’t get tired until nearly 7 in the morning. I have no trouble sleeping once I get to sleep; It’s getting to sleep that’s the problem. I am looking for any over the counter sleep aids that can help me simply become much more tired much earlier in the night. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What would need to be done to get prescription sleep aids?

Any information would be appreciated.

What is the best position to sleep in? Is there a “correct” way we as humans should sleep?

I’ve always found myself wondering this. I sleep in the same position every night, and I find it difficult to sleep in any other.

I sleep on my stomach.
I want to compare and contrast between sleeping on stomach, back, or sides. Which is the best for our bodies so we won’t have any strain in our backs or ribs.

Also, Is there a proven* correct way we should sleep?

How much sleep should a person actually get per night?

I ask because I’ve been told that a person should try to complete full sleep cycles of roughly 3 hours each at night, and that waking up in the middle of a sleep cycle actually makes you feel more tired. So, would a 3 hour nap be better than 1.5? Should we abandon the 8 hours of sleep standard?

How can you sleep better at night without taking medications?

Ok when i go to sleep, I cant sleep it takes a while (1 sometimes 2 hours or more) i close my eyes and all i see are images of the day, the upcoming day, i tried going to sleep early so i can wake up earlier i tried getting tired (working out playing ball or some) I try reading which works but only in school not at home. if i go to sleep late (2-6 am) i usually wake up at 9 i dont know why. But i dont wake up tired just normal but i know this will take its toll later on. So anyone with ideas..remember i dont want to take medication but if i do i’ll see the doc. thanks.
